I just received a very generous gift from a bird breeder friend of mine and was the recipient of some beautiful Great Argus Pheasant secondary quills, spotted back feathers, and some Argus hen pheasant feathers. I was wondering if anyone could help me with some classic patterns that call for Argus in them?

Thanks,

Zach

some norway patters use it. but usally calls for the tail feather. the nice big secondary with the eyes make great dee wings, but not used much in classics.
Thanks Kevin. I though that I saw the tail feathers on something like a Sir Moses or maybe it was the Evangalene? Anyway, I will have some fun with the secondaries and the Dee flies, that is for sure. She sent me one side tail from the rooster but I didn't get anything that matches at all. Appreciate the help!

Garbage feathers. No use at all. But they need special care in their disposal. Send them my way and I'll make sure that they meat their demise appropriately. :saevilw:

The Major in Jones's Guide to Norway is the first that comes to mind. There are others in that book, though I can't think of the names at the moment. Some of Blacker's flies call for various argus feathers. Francis's Colonel calls for it. That's all I can come up with now.
