UK's Trout & Salmon magazine classifieds section relating to casting instruction contains references to the following:

G.A.I.A.

S.G.A.I.C.

A.P.G.A.I.

R.E.F.F.I.S.

S.T.A.N.I.C.

What do these stand for?

Hi Bob,

G.A.I.A. stands for Game Angling Instructors Association, an umbrella organisation encompassing the others.
S.G.A.I.C. is Scottish Game Angling Instructors Certificate (I think). A Scottish version of Stanic I believe, am not sure of this one but will find out.
A.P.G.A.I. is Advanced Professional Game Angling Instructors
R.E.F.F.I.S. is the Register of Experienced Fly Fishing Instructors and Schools
S.T.A.N.I.C. is the Salmon and Trout Association National Instructors Certificate

All are U.K. based fly casting instructors organisations.
