Curious what peoples experience is about conversion rates for both lines and backing. For example, is there an agreed on conversion between a DT line and equivalent sizes of Windcutter or Delta, Midspey or Delta Long, and Grandspey or XLT. Also, how about converting capacities for backing from gelspun to dacron?
What is driving this is I’m looking at picking up a newer reel and am deciding between two sizes. One size has a published capacity of DT8 and 130 meters of 30# gelspun and the other the 10/11 with a published capacity of DT10 and 185 meters of 30# gelspun. Depending on what rod I matched it with, I’d be looking at spooling up either a 6/7 DL, a 7/8 MS or the 7/8 GS on it. Finally, I hate gelspun and would want the ability to have a min. of 125 yds. of 30# dacron.
