Hi Mike. I tie on #3's most of the time. For display flies I sometimes use #2's to make the details more visible with the longer shank, larger tinsels and longer wings etc, also for clipping off eyes for blind-eye flies. It's been ages since I tied on #1's.Another fine display of skill, gorgeous fly :smokin:
I really like the long JC nails under the wing. Really it provides such a nice taper for the wing.
Out of curiosity Shannon, what size McNeese hook do you tie on most regularly ??
I strictly re-bend #1's to a smaller gap and straighten the shank where the bend is. It makes for a longer shank to gap ratio and is a nice platform for a Dee strip. It's been ages since I tied on #1's.
