An AJ 1.5 is the same length as a BH #3. Hope this helps.
Blue Heron Hooks Question
Hi,
Can anybody that has experience with Blue Heron Hooks comment on their relative size compared to an AJ? How does a 1 or 2 in a BH hook compare to a 1.5 in an AJ. Ideally, I am looking for a hook that falls between an AJ 3 and 1.5 size wise (i.e. length). THX

ok thx. I was thinking that a 1 in a BH would be more comparable to the 1.5 AJ.
Nope the first poster was right, the 3 is almost an exact match for a 1.5AJ. I wish the Herons came in a smaller size as I would love something similar to a 3 AJ or even a 5. The BH are great hooks.

Blue Herons are very nice hooks at a very fair price. The Herons have just a bit more of a sleek, sexy look, IMO, than the AJ's. The upturned eyes on the Herons are unmatched in beauty.

Agreed! It's become my standard spey hook for those reasons and also would like to see a one-size smaller. Beyond the graceful shape - the quality of the BHSHooks is... well - there really is no comparison -Blue Herons are very nice hooks at a very fair price. cut the end off and blind eye for one size smaller. Thats what i did for Arya's Fly. still get the awesome gape, but shorter length. fish don;t care that you got rid of the sexy eye
Fantastic hooks and deadly sharp. I agree, would be nice if they came down in size as well.
