In the last couple weeks I have heard some conflicting info on setup casts that supply the most energy for casting. I have heard single spey and also the snap T.

I had always thought it was a single spey....

So casting skills aside what cast is it?

Depends . . .

Hey Sean,

FWIW, I find that these fall into two categories - the Water Load casts (Perry Poke and Snap T) and the Dynamic D-loop loads(Single Spey and all Snake Roll casts).

The water loads provide a slingshot-like anchor that helps load the rod for the forward delivery. The advantage of the Dynamic D loads of the Single Spey and Snake Roll casts are that the have an active D loop that is moving back directly in line with the target on your forward cast.

That momentum of the D-Loop pulling back helps the spey rod load just like the pull of the Water Load casts.

My vote? The Perry Poke for best Water Load speycast, and the Single Spey (or really the Switch Cast - Dana?) for the Dynamic D.
