I am just in the process of getting a new 14' CND Solstice, rated 7/8/9 and was looking for advice on the right line rating and recommendation for the rod. I am considering either a Rio Mid Spey or an Airflo Delta Spey long. Which rating should I get for the rod? Mid Spey 7/8, Mid Spey 8/9 or Air Flo Spey long 7/8 or 8/9?

Any guidance, suggestions or observations much appreciated. My style of casting is 'touch and go' and circle spey when I am using tips.

Many thanks

Kush may want to chime in here as he has more experience with this rod than I do.

I have lined my 14'3" with a 7/8 Midspey and it seems a pretty good match. I spent some time casting Sean's 7/8 Delta Long on it too one day on the Sauk and it was also quite nice.

Sinktips got it right, the 7/8 is true to it's rating. For the lines that run a little heavier you can go down a size (SA, long belly), for those that run light you can go up (Hardy, etc) but for most lines it's right on the numbers.
