Back when I was a kid growing up in Deadford seeing bears in and around town was not that uncommon. We had one walk across the school play ground when I was in the third or forth grade. The teachers made us go inside until the bear had departed and then it was back out to play like nothing had happened. I don't think they even called it in. Times have changed. Now if someone sees a bear there is mass panic.
