what do you think about the orvis battenkill spey reel. saw them for 135.00 on a website here in washington. would this reel work on a 8/9 or 9/10 13ft 6 or 14 ft spey rod or would it be too heavy i think the wt is 9 thru 11 on the reel.

It's identical to the Cortland Magnum

A proven design made in England. No problems with mine, though I've seen a Cortland that had an uneven drag. It will hold as big a spey line as you could want for those rods and still have lots of room for backing. If you hunt, you might do better for price. I paid $75 for mine.

do you know any websites besides ebay that might have them for cheaper

know of any websites that might carry them for a reasonable price besides ebay.

This reel is sold in the UK under the brand name Leeda. You might want to try a search for a Leeda Magnum. I think that there are two sizes, a 150D and a 200D.
