Hello my friends!
I'm going to fishing in Byske river next year. Is here somebody familiar with this place? Any useful tips would be appreciated .

I know Swedes love to use tube flies a lot, and I subscribed to Swedish fly tying channel dedicated to such things.

Swinging in Sweden?

My wife and I are planning to visit relatives in Stockholm this summer, and I would like to swing for Atlantics in the Northern part of the country.--I met several Swedes while fishing for sea runs in Argentina, and they were the ones who recommended going north?---I was also told that June to early July seems to be "prime-time"???
Any leads, or contact information with guides, lodges, etc would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Bill

I was there a couple of years ago and fished the Morrum, DIY. Easy, beautiful, relatively inexpensive and full of big Baltic salmons and sea troutses...have fun

The good things about Byske :
-Decent salmon catches statistics (according to previous year).
-Salmon license is quite cheap (for Northern European means :) ), and gives a right to fish within almost 100 km part of the river from the mouth
-Many places where to buy a license (it is possible to buy in camps, small shops, gas stations)

Salmon catch statistics in 2015:
May - 945
June - 645
July - 103
August - 231
Biggest fish - 128 cm
260 fish over 100 cm
3/4 of all fish caught on fly rods, roughly 1/4 on spinning

June is the best by guides statistics. Mostly fresh fish . In May there are many kelts (fish already spawned and rolling down the sea)

some information in English is here:
Byskeälvens FVO - Information

Getting there:
few low cost airlines (notably Norwegian) serve flights from Stockholm to cities Skelleftea, Lulea and Umea, in vicinity of 30-50 km from Byske.

WOW!----Foreach, that is an amazing amount of information to digest!

Maybe we could rent a Car or Van, and drive up to the area from Stockholm?----Maybe there is Public transportation available?--I'll check!
It would be great to see the countryside driving North to the Byske.

I was hoping to find a quaint cabin to rent where my wife would feel comfortable while I Fish?---She Is a Plein Air oil painter, and would enjoy painting a few landscapes.
I do not need a guide to teach, only to help me out with flys, beats, etc.---I'll check out the Byske fly fishing guides you mentioned, as well as calling Roger & Stig, as I do not have an email address for them.---That could be a challange, as I do not speak Swedish?

Thanks a lot for taking the time to send out this information ---It's a wealth of information, and I'll try to sort through it.

Most Sincerely,

I might rent a car in Stockholm and drive up, or fly and rent at airport?---It looks to be a 10 hour drive from Stockholm, which is time, as I'm sure there is some beautiful scenery on the way up.---I'll keep plugging away on this, and see what happens.---When do you plan on fishing the area?

Thanks,

Bill
