I'm thinking hard about trying one of Gary Anderson's ACR 1176 (11'7" 6 weight) but I can't seem to find any user feedback on this rod.

I'd greatly appreciate hearing what others think of the 1176. (Of course, I plan to talk to Gary too).

Since acquiring two of Gary's rods this year - an 1173 and 1338 - my other rods have seen little use. I love them. Hence, my strong interest in an 1176.

Thanks.

Have cast the rod on several occasions.

A delight when properly lined with a Steve Godshall line. The true beauty of these short 2handers (I'm sure there are more) that comes to mind at 0430:

You can cast a 2hander in REALLY tight fishing conditions;

You can actually make short casts (skip 'flop casts,' hate to do that);

(To expand #2) Trust me, you need to do this far more than you think;

As a '6 you've got enough backbone to handle substantial sized fish;

You can cast these things for hours without breaking a sweat;

Etc.

I don't know about the 1176, but I have a 1206 Explorer rod from Gary and I absolutely love it. I have used it on the Grande Ronde, Trinity and Klamath rivers and it is perfect for them. Super nice rod.
