I tied this fly in august 2013 according to recent photo dating methods. It took a while to get some play, but it was the one that took a fish this morning. I only switched flies about 6 times this morning.

Good going! Every now and then I reach for some fly that was a twinkle several years ago when I was off on an inspired tying binge. The last that I remember I got a beauty of a fish with a black & blue with long wispy blue hackles like yours shown here. Mine didn't have such a beautiful wing though.

It just hit a good cutty and another steelhead. i'm gonna have to tie more.

the rooster hackle is home grown on the body, the badger one. the blue hackle is Aaron's burnt goose spey hackle.

yes, too hot and scary dry, its horrible. i mean that too, id take a bad moist winter any day these days.
Killin it Matt, that's awesome ! No sympathy here weather relates :tsk_tsk: first steel trip for me tomorrow and we're looking at a high of 37 ! Warm weather AND steel......yeah, sounds rough. :chuckle:
