Can anyone tell me the difference between the new Airflo 40 plus and the old one, other than the way the head is connected to the running line. The head on the old one gets stiff in cold weather, and I was just wondering if the new one dose the same thing.

did they change the way they intergrated it when they came out with thier new single hand lines?

Yes first few years 40+ WF was a head and shooting line which were welded together using black polyurethane so cores were not connected together. When double hauling so that weld did run inside guides weld broke very fast. Then usually line broke when fighting with strong fish.

New lines have one piece core.

What I was mainly trying to find out is if the head section of the new lines get as stiff as the old lines in colder weather.

I have fished 40+ Sniper Intermediate in almost freezing temperature and less than +10C water without coiling effect or being too stiff.
