Adam Hypnarowski Fly Reel ~ SOLD ~

Adam Hypnarowski Fly Reel. Clear acrylic reel with red handles is in what appears to be the original box and never used. These reels were made for a very limited period of time in the late 1940's in Buffalo, NY. Patent number US 2438287. I've only seen a couple of these in the last 10 years. 3 3/4" in Diameter, Spool with 7/8".

$45 + actual shipping. ~ SOLD ~

Please feel free to ask questions.

Looking at the design of the reel, I'd say it is a brake of sorts. Nothing else there in center hub except a bearing.

I wonder how long that would take to wear down the acrylic spool??

Definitely something I have never seen before.

Cheers

Just noticed the teardrop shaped knobs. Very interesting. Wonder whether they are an "improvement" over cylindrical knobs when actually playing a fish, or maybe just an aesthetic element?
