Any opinions on the Abel Spey rods? 14' 9weight


Do you think that this is to heavy for salmon and trout in the great lakes?

I fish in the salmon river, cattaragaus,niagara river etc.
I also cast off of jettys in florida.


Any opinions?

While I agree that a 13' #8 is probably not the best choice for flinging heavy heads big distance, I have to question the logic behind your point of not being able to turn the fish with the little rod.

If you were broke off, seems to me, it has become a mute point??? :razz: The only thing a bigger stick might have done is broke you quicker!
