fantastic tying on this site lately people.... always inspiring.
I am disappointed that I was too busy and missed out on the Dunt exchange. I love that fly. Perhaps another time.

Anyway, these have been turned out here and there over the last while.
Thought I'd share.... Any tips or suggestions are always appreciated.
Thanks.

A Nighthawk.... I saw this in the Veverka book. I just had to try one...
The wing is goose.

Two Orange Herons... The grey hackle was a bit brownish, but I don't think the fish will mind.

A married wing with goose and turkey. I am trying to get better at these....
I like to tie in a long wispy hackle on all the flies I fish. I guess it just helps my headspace and confidence level when my toes are cold and the fishing is tough.

And a Skagit Mist. I couldn't believe I didn't have any in my box. This is actually my first one, and I just can't wait for the ice to leave the rivers here so I can swing it. The wing is turkey.

Thanks for the kind words everyone....

Mid-january is a cold, cold, icy, and dark time of year up here.
It helps to create a few flies and to see the flies people are tying, while I dream of fishing, and wait for the rivers to thaw....

Those flies are the bomb! The NIGHTHAWK is simply superb. And those Glasso ORANGE HERONS are flies he would have been happy with. Well done Sir!
