Well, the title says it all. I was looking at the colours and patterns of our baltic sea trout and wanted to tie a fly with the same kinds of colours. You will judge if I nailed it or not? ;-)

reminds me of a herring

That's one very pretty and fairly imitative salmon fly. I would expect it to be a very good pattern for Chinook, which love herring. The little bit of red at the throat is a nice touch.

We don't have Chinooks where I come from, but plenty of baltic sea trout and some atlantic salmons, and depending on locality rainbow trout (from aquaculture overrun). We call the large baltic sea trouts for heering eaters, so I hope one of those will be tempted to chomp onto this fly ;-)

Beautiful fly!
I'm thinking cutthroat and bull trout would be very very interested in that fly this time of year here in the PNW.
