Wondering if anyone has the 7wt redington prospector switch and what grain weight Skagit line they use. The rod recommends 475 +- 50 grains but Rio's line recommendation pdf for this rod say 375 for option A and 425 for option B. To me it seems like both those are really low on the grain window. I'm a grad student and money is very tight so I'd like to get the best grain weight first without having to buy alot and test. Thanks in advance.

prospector 7wt

I have this rod and really like it. I cast it with a Rio Skagit Max Short 450.
You could also use the Airflo Skagit Switch 450. You want these short heads designed for switch rods. I think the Rio chart is wrong and that the labelling on the rod is correct.
