A good friend challenged me to do this...

Yes sir, thanks for looking! That's a great looking fly.
Thanks for sharing.
A +1|2" would have been perfect, I agree!Flawless body work, i wouldnt have the guts to attempt this. I would prefer a shorter shank for this style but thats just me
Proportionally a larger gape hook would have been nicer to match the length as well. Agree with busy if it was shorter after staring at it for a while.Very nice! I disagree with those who think it would be better tied on a shorter shank hook. In my opinion, Traherne's flies were made to be tied on long shank hooks; otherwise, they get too "busy".
If anyone if curious how I smooth out my floss bodies check out my blurb on floss burnishing, its a modified way to do it, but it smooth's and shines at the same time.Looking good Matt. Floss work is top notch.
Stuck in a cork for now, not quite sure, might give it to the boss for Christmas.Very nice! Guess that one is going in a frame?
Thanks Mike, appreciate it.Outstanding work my friend :smokin:
Smooth and well balanced .... reminds me of a fine single malt !!
Mike
I agree that additional taper wold be nicer, there is a little, but not to the likes of alot of the examples out there, and Ive also seen examples with none or very little...nice fly. some taper in body would be nice
Thats not a bad Idea! :saeek:That would look great on the Christmas Tree. Give it to the boss later!
Nice work!
