the 1213 arrived today.
first impressions are fairly positive. i like the look of the simple disc drag and also the weight of the reel is very light but not weak, it also looks like i'm going to easily be able to put 200yds of 30# backing on the spool [not that i need 200yds]. i don't think i could expect much more from a reel for under 200$'s.
hopefully i will be able to test the system 2 1213 reel this winter on some west coast steelhead...

cheers :)

I've battered and abused a 10/11#wt for years now in and out
of salt.
Its still running just fine.
I reckon you'll be pretty happy.

I tested the drag on a few Albies (false albacore) some years back.
Anyone will tell you, a drag that stops and survives a few albies will
suffice for Salmon or Steelies.

I will admit, the back of the reel did get a little warm after the first
100 yard run though :chuckle:

so today i put my line and backing onto the reel. i had a problem, i had purchased this 600 yard bulk spool of backing and had no-idea on how to tell how much backing to take off , in the end i used google earth to measure on my lawn the distance for the backing and guessed on what was the right amount for the reel. so according to the google earth measuring tool i have 222.79 yards of backing on my reel. :hihi:

attached the the multi tip line [with out tip] with a nail knot with about a 3/8" to spare on the spools circumference.

 glad that's all done...
