I am fishing on the Bow River in Alberta for Rainbow and Brown Trout of 20" fish of 22" not uncommon.

Would you use a 3 or a 4 Echo SR swinging wets and steamers?

Thanks for the help.

It’s been awhile since I cast both of those rods but I remember them being powerful for the stated weight. Since you are specifically target big fish with big streamers I say go for the 4wt. If you really want to have some fun go with the Echo Glass 4 wt switch instead. It is a blast to catch big fish on deep bending rod!

I own the Echo SR 3wt and have cast several SR 4wt rods.

It all depends upon the size of fly you inted to cast.
Larger heavier flies will cast smoother with the 4wt, smaller wet flies are more fun with the 3wt.

Check out the TR series in Echo Trout Spey series, longer length gives better line control on larger waters.
