The layout at Carton House for the Emerald World masters with the purpose built casting lake shown at the bottom right on the far side of the River Rye

Steve Rajeff on the right with the site electrician Robert Kee from Omagh. It must be said that I refused to take Robert's picture with Steve until he got changed from his working clothes and scrubbed up. This particular casting groupie duly obliged and got his picture, which Steve kindly signed for him once I printed it out

Steve Rajeff casting in the trout accuracy event

Steve Rajeff hitting one of the target hoops in the trout accuracy event, a feat which few managed in a testing breeze

The one, two and three in the trout accuracy event with Steve Rajeff winning

The one, two and three in the trout distance event, with Steve Rajeff winning

The one, two and three in the the salmon fly distance event, with Steve Rajeff coming second

Gerrard Downey, Team Ireland and one of my house mates for the week, came fourth in the salmon distance event and the judges said that one of Gerrard's casts, where the fly was turned over the boundary line at the very last second by no more than 3 inches, would have won the event

Scott McKenzie, Team Scotland, making his last competitive cast in the spey casting event, as Scott has announced his retirement from competitive casting

The spey casting team event one, two and three, with Team Scotland 1st, Team UK 2nd and Team Ireland 3rd
