All of the above, the Rogue is the pond and Tou Velle Park is the grass. Bring lots of $$$, lots of goodies. Bring your Flywerks rod and lines.

treat it like you are going fishing, because you are. there are miles of river access and summer steel in the river. you may want to wet wade, but bring waders, gear, everything, then get ready to try more... even bring your tying gear if thats your bag...
What to bring

There are no ponds at Tou Velle Park, the presentations take place in a flowing water side channel of the Rogue River adjacent to the event area, the audience standing on the bank. If you want to try out a rod on the water, waders would be recommended but there is also ample lawn space. Waders are not needed for the presentations, although there are several good fly runs in the area if you want to fish, remember to obtain a Oregon State angling license if you do.

The factory reps, etc, setup around and under a covered structure on the lawn near the presentations. Lunch is served at the covered structure and the brats are cooked on an open grill at the site. All is very informal.

Hope to see you there.

Dennis

There's a $5.00 parking fee so have some 'ones' on you.

For a bit of fishing before/after two very easy calls. Drive by the Pavilion up to the 'E' section (300 yard +/-,there's a big sign so you can't miss it). Gear up and walk right past the sign to the river. The 'E' is right at the top end of the Island; the clinic is about 1/4 the way up from the bottom.

There you will find a great riffle with (at that time of the year) free spawning Native Run King Salmon. WARNING! You can't legally fish for Kings this far up river. That said, the summer runs stack up right below them so start at the top of the run and fish all the way down to the bottom of the Island.

Second option is head across the river to the boat ramp (turn left just after you've crossed the bridge. Same parking pass covers both sides of the river. River here is one wide flat run until you get to the bottom of this bit (easy 150'ish yard walk) and you have one of my fav. runs on the entire river. Again the kings will free spawn at the top of the break but the river 'necks down' into one of the best runs going. You've got several hundred yards of excellent water. Fish the whole thing until you can't wade further (that will be very obvious).

You can also follow the path all the way up the river from the park until you get to where Little Butte meets the Rogue. There is a decent run there just swing it in to the bank river left. If your feeling adventurous cross little butte and heat up river to the rock piles. There are some great buckets in that section.

That is a great piece of water but Nate did say "adventurous"! Some years, it is any easy wade to cut the mouth of Little Butte and follow the bank up to the gravel beds. Other years, the old redds and frogwater back eddies make for some deep, difficult wading. Some places/years - water to the knees; other places/years - water to the shoulders.

You could always cut across Little Butte a little higher up the creek where the water is more trustworthy, then bushwack to the gravel beds. There used to be a deer trail that cut through there, but I think it is gone. This might be a little easier. Just watch for poison oak. It's everywhere in that brush.
Google Earth on your 'Puter.

Just remembered that their maps/photo's are very new of our area (and in full colour too!) and DEAD ON what you'll see 'boots on the ground.' Only thing that will change is the water flow at a given point in time.

Now, 1600 cfs out of the William Jess Dam (just above the Hatchery); lower than that is/can be better. Fish school up in the deeper pools so it becomes a 'stealth'] fishery. You can't walk up to the water like a Bull Moose in Heat and expect results.

Just ain't going to happen.

The Lab can screw that up pretty quick, but I don't go anywhere with out Sandy. Well, breakfast at the "Apple Peddler" on the intersection of 62 and 140. Ten bucks, including coffee and good tip, is 'all in.' ("Country Breakfast")

24/7 so don't worry what's on your clock.:smokin: Three/four times per week at the minimum. Wait Lady just turns over my coffee cup and "Your usual Mr. Evans?"

Yup and she hands me bits of the local news paper someone has left.

The 2 hander?

Everyone will bring their rods.

Grass cast, walk over to the river (just a few feet away) and cast. On the river, most will have a 'fav fly' on the end of the leader. Pretty darned good day, me thinks.

I'm in
Be there
For sure now
