I tried a few UV resins; Loon, Solarez, Gulff, etc. I was never impressed by them, each had their own problems; cloudiness, tackiness, long cure times, poor durability, and so on. A coat of zap a...

I'll have to keep an eye out for one, thanks for the tip! I did snag an Intermediate Skagit Compact last season, and it's a killer winter line.

Lots of people like the rage heads, but I'm just lukewarm on them. They're a great tool, but I think the Rio Scandi Short Versitip system is more flexible "Skandit" head for the fishing scenarios I...

I've been using the Vedavoo beast sling for the past 2 seasons; steelhead, trout, even saltwater. Lots of storage, especially if your just carrying smaller boxes, instead of the Bugger Beast Jr, and...

It's mostly personal preference. In my experience, integrated or coated running lines tend to give the loop a bit more stability in flight, and are easier to handle and mend, at the cost of some...

Beads on a fly rod are certainly effective, where legal of course. Obviously, a good selection of egg imitations would be wise to have. I'm particularly fond of estaz eggs, but sucker spawn, nuke...

If you're not in a huge rush, the Cabela's two handed rods can be had for a heck of price come Black Friday and the holiday season. I can't speak for the longer rods, but the switch rods have been...

I don't think that either magnets or glue dots are the answer for a permanent solution. I use the small clear adhesive "bumpers" for temporarily mounting flies in baseball card holders, but I...

Cack handed means casting with your arms crossed, or off your non-dominant shoulder with your dominant hand up. Typically, in a right hand up grip, your D-loop would be forming on your right side....

I'd start looking locally for a rod builder that does grips. Cork, especially spey rod length sections, doesn't ship particularly well by itself, as I've found out. Ask around your local fly and/or...

Reel with my left hand, because that's how I've always done it. Right hand up is my strong side, and I've got most of my casts dialed both off the right shoulder and cack handed. This summer and fall...

Mr. Archuleta does it again!

Last year, I got what I thought was a screaming deal on SA System 11 reel (Made by Hardy in the late 70s) from fleabay. Turns out, it was the first version of the reel, with a well worn out plastic...

I've fished both the Scandi Body (with 10' tips) and the Rage with polyleaders. Both are fine heads, but I like the flexibility of the Scandi with tips better. You can go from a 33' "Skandit" with...
