If you are near the Golden Gate Park area in San Francisco, home of the Spey O Rama, there are casters who are into competition casting with the long rod, long line. The casting principals are the same and good techniques are necessary. Too often, the load is lost when one do not do the necessary things... a simple stop, a simple dropping of the elbow, etc. Perhaps a trip to SF will get you back on the right path.

Barry, I sent you out a couple flies this morning. One is a "built wing" style and the other is a fully married wing, both established classics. If you plan on selling any salmon flies in the future, be aware of their value. The two I sent you, I'd normally sell for $30 ea. The nicer ones can go way up in value. I've been doing quite well selling American themed salmon flies, getting $100 ea framed and mounted. If you just plan on fishing yours, that's super cool. I myself am way too broke to justify fishing them. I gift them and sell them. I included a small note w the flies. I'm looking for 2 nice blind eye hooks in 8/0. I'm going to tie a couple of very famous Trahernes patterns if I can get the 8/0's. Hope you enjoy these flies and the journey as much as I do ! Cheers

PS a disclaimer here, I retired from guiding fly fishing exclusively for 22 years. I've done about 2,500 trips and rowed my driftboat at least a dozen miles on each trip.
I've tied at least 24,000 knots over the last 22 years. Some of them were not so good, but not to many!
