The Glen Grant

Inspired by Adrians thread about Gritty Flies, I thought I'd take on a fly that came to mind as soon as I was finished reading it. This is the first time I've tied the Glen Grant. It's surprisingly fun to tie, and although this ones a bit rough around the edges I quite like it. The intention is to fish it, so the split JC nails don't bother me.

Not sure I'd tie too many more to fish. 6 JC nails is a lot

Tied on an AJ 1.5, Bronze.

Nice Tie!

FYI, they are a fish catching machine and well worth the cost of the nails.

Classic
I enjoy the dressing as a more natural look, just like you have with these nails. I have seen lacquered nails in the past, but this one is fishing. Good luck with this nice hook.

good reel

This pattern has always intrigued me...thanks for bringing it back to jog my memory. A sweet fishy tie.

Great tie, very well done!

I don't know about you, but when I attempt this fly every so often, it reminds me how difficult this pattern can be! Getting three sets of JC staying where you want them and aligning as well as you have done is no easy task!!!

Bill,

The pattern calls for the JC to be "back to back". I decided to tent them slightly, and before that, just at the tie in point, I ribboned the stem over the edge of my scissors to create a bit of a bend in them.

I was trying back to back at first but havin too much trouble keeping them down.

Not sure that's entirely accurate but it works.

What you did seemed to work quite well! JC is some slippery, unforgiving little feather!!
