After spinning deer hair on a dozen Dec Hogan natural muddlers I decided to switch it up and tie a simpler fly. I've wanted the no name in my quiver. Here is the first one off the vice. I couldn't find any cerise tippet, so I used hot pink. The rest is true to the pattern. The picture in "A Passion for Steelhead" looks like the purple dubbing is ribbed with a tinsel of some sort, but the text doesn't call it out. I went midway and added some flash to my dubbing. The fly is a bit fuller than Dec's, but I think it will swim well.
(Safety message - just noticed that I need to pinch the barb down. I really should do that BEFORE I tie!)
