7mm craft beads
1/4" braided elastic
3/8" shrink tube (cut into 5mm strips)
Ruler
Scissors
Super glue
Pencil

I ordered some of these fancy things from hareline for some of my tying materials. They were boring yet cheap. They come in straight black and small. So, just because I can, I decided to make my own. I really needed them for my leader and tippet material more than anything. For smaller spools I used six (6" or 152mm) inches of elastic. For maxima size spools I used eight and a half (8.5" or 230mm) inches of elastic; and for tying material spools (which is why I posted it under this thread) I used 70mm just shy of 3.75". I hope that you enjoy and thanx for looking

Fyi, $1.49/3yrds of elastic. $2.99/300 beads. Around 50 applications per pkg of three four inch pieces of shrink tube. Everyone has zap-a-gap...super glue our similar glue. A lighter or really hot hair style dryer is needed for shrink tube. By the way, buy a bag of assorted beads; it gets really boring with the same colors. Have fun and stay busy! Happy Holidays and merry christmas!

Great idea, especially using different colors for the beads. I have been using a Lefty Kreh method where 2 small holes (~1/16" diameter) are drilled in the rim of the leader spool. Three sets of holes are drilled at 120 degree intervals. Your method is much simpler.
