I tied a few of these last night and i tied the mallard wings in at the same time with the soft loop. I must have taken each set of wings off 8 to 12 times to finally get a wing i could live with . I do like this better than tying in one wing at a time. I used olive and brown dubbing blend for the body and blue eared pheasant for the hackle. heres a few pics ,critique welcome .thanks joe.
I prefer tying the wings in at the same time as well . It was easier for me to get use to that method and I find that my BM wings are very consistent . I find that it has more to do with the set up leading to the wing placement than anything else . Keeping the body tapering down towards the head and the body hackle and collar bulk to a minimum really helps with wing placement .
Keep up the great tying Joe !!! I look forward to more of your creations
I too struggle with BM at times. I have found that good quality, right size feather & most importantly for me, the less manipulation possible of the wing gives me best results. I am no expert , but I'd say yours are perfect!
I really like the color in your dubbing also.
Nice ties!
