Greetings all,
I saw a request from Phil in Rock's sorcerer challenge. He wanted a list of materials a week ahead of schedule. I figured why not 3 weeks ahead. So, the 3rd challenge will be a fly from the vise of Freddie Riley. An acclaimed salmon fly dresser who was lauded by John Veniard in T.E. Pryce-Tannatt's book "How to dress Salmon Flies". Freddie was a 1970's tier who, as Mr. Veniard put it, "With his examples of salmon fly tying, put the traditional fly right back in it's rightful place. And with materials available to all of us!". The great thing about Mr. Riley was that his flies retained that (Gotzmer, here ya go) inherent beauty of the gaudy's of old, but didn't take you selling your home to afford the materials. Simple in design, elegant in color selection and down right dirty fish catchers. That said, here's a technical built wing, but still has a material list that a Trout fly tier should have lying around. The Gold and Blue.

*Edit: This is a classic salmon pattern and should incorporate a nice Sproat, O'shaughnessy or Limerick bend hook. It does NOT need to be a blind eye hook. The plates from the book actually show the usage of a Single Salmon Partridge or Mustad Salmon hook. Nothing flashy, just a good sized iron that'll hook a fish. If I can give any advice, keep it 1/0 and under.*

Gold and Blue:

Tag: Silver Tinsel and Yellow Floss
Tail: A GP topping and blue chatterer (Sub kingfisher or blue hackle tip)
Butt: Black herl
Body: Royal Blue Seal Fur
Ribs: Flat gold and Oval silver tinsel
Hackle: Hot Orange
Throat: Guinea fowl dyed Blue
Wing: Married Strands of Red, Yellow, Orange and Blue Goose (Or Turkey), Brown Mottled Turkey, Golden Pheasant Tail, Teal and Strips of Brown Mallard over.
Sides: Jungle cock and a topping overall.
Head: Black Varnish.

Hope this helps and if you need any help sourcing materials, let me know.

-Jamie
