I was tempted to name this fly "Hairbrained Highlander" OR " Green Hairlander". I'm glad I didn't, although the connections are obvious.
There's something about hair/fur that defies being tamed. You can reign it in and corral it but it still refuses to be domesticated. At it's very best it roams free and although this pattern is a bit caged, it still represents the wild nature that brings out the best in the beast and the fly.
