Nice flies, good colors. I'd prefer them tied with sparser hackle, but that is simply my preference for sparseness in spey style flies, not a criticism of these finely tied flies.
Flytyer,
I hear you on the over hackling, I have a tendancy to do this. But I am working on it as well as not crowding the head of the fly. Practice, practice and practice some more.
Dave,
The hackle is natural black cock with some green iradecence. It is a very cool feather. I plan to get somemore in the future in different colors.

Great Scout,
Really like these flies ,if you want sparse strip one side of the hackle careful not to split the stem. I like the ribbing tooo different colors got my gears turnin.

P.S. are these Alec Jackson hooks? what size?
I figure the wing as good as bronze mallard and easier to make them up too. Many of the flies I use are hackled full like this because of the water conditions. I try to make something with a nice fat profile but when fishing in slower deep water I go for something with less hackle and long fibers. Your flies will make for great fishing, now you have to decide which one to tie on.
Lonewolf,
The first three are tied on Partridge CS 10/1 1/0 hooks and the last one is tied on an AJ 3. I love the shape and the look of these hooks. I am also planning to try some of Dave McNeese's Blue Heron Hooks but haven't yet. They all seem to be a little more expensive than standard salmon hooks but you have got to love the look, makes it worthwhile to me.
