Morice lamprey

Many times over the years I have come across BIG rainbow and LAKE trout puking up lamprey when they get to my hands. All the Lakes and Rivers in my area (REGION 6-SKEENA) are full of LAMPREY. I find it odd that to this day, there is no lamprey fly pattern... They are everywhere around here, in some rivers, I have caught steelhead with clues or on 2 occasions, lamprey trying to swim out of their mouths. I used a synthetic material, tied in many steps to achieve this look as I stared at "Pacific Lamprey" photos. It is my first try with these materials, and have attacked this before, only with a zonker strip trailer looped fly that proved successful last year. I hope you like, more to come!

Too nice for a lamprey... They don't deserve that much respect!:hihi:

Nice tie. I used to tie a lamprey fly when I was in California for the trinity river. I don't know if you are intent on staying with the synthetics, but a tail of ostrich herl really moves nicely.
