A lovely fly. As to the head size, I think it is proportionate to the rest of the fly but the herl you used at the head has barbs that are far too long. If the herl barbs were half as long the over all fly would look well proportioned.
The composition of this fly is wonderful, especially your material selections and use of colors. This particular hook lends itself to a tip and tag well forward of the traditional placement. Your work is full of promise and progress.
I agree with what both Halcyon and 24-7 mentioned. This is a lovely fly that with very minor adjustments noted by these two gents would be a superb fly. Don't get obsessed with having small heads on married wing flies because it isn't always possible to do so do to the number of materials tied in at the head. The important thing is to have the head on a married wing fly to be in the shape of a "Hershey Kiss".
