Cold water Dee's

I wanted some flies that were a little bigger than I usually fish, for when the river temps are low. I wanted something with a little more class than half a rabbit warped around a hook. I decided on a couple bigger Dee's.

The heads are big and nasty, I have a hard time deciding where put the head when I'm tying on blind eye's. I cant decide If I should go all the way to the tip of the shank of hold it back a little. I usually start buy holding back, but end up tying thread to the tip.

Hope you guy's like them but i hope even more that they work.:hihi:

Allen,

Nice flies!

Something that would probably help you in placing the head on blind-eye hook dees is making 2 marks with a black fine point pen or sharpie on the blind-eye loop material after it is tied in: one just a tad back from the end of the shank, and the other 1/16"-3/32" back from the first mark to be used as references. The rear most one is where the body stops and the throat, side, and wing are tied in to use the space between it and the front mark. The front mark designates where the head stops.
