I've started these two a pair of days ago and just finished them. They are for a friend who owns one of the two flyshops here in my city and these are his favorite flies.
First, the Spruce Streamer, hard as hell to draw the wing with the klight colored paper so i had to paint a dark background around the fly.
The second one is the Royal Wulff, i this one came up nicer than the spruce.
Thank you, Roar, Mike, Hitcher and Andy; i'm very glad to knwo you like them
Andy, the spruce is a not much used but really effective trout pattern for our southern rivers too, i was going to tie a set of them for my next trip just a couple of days before my operation and i couldn't even get to the flyshop to purchase the peacock swords for them lol. I hope to get back to the vice by the next weekend. I wont take many streamers for the trip, but spruces and black ghosts are a mong the few i will carry. My idea is to prove some friends that the old classic wets still have sharp teeth, so the most of the flies i will get there will be classic wets. People here (besides calling them drowned flies instead of wet flies as it should be) have a kind of common idea that wet flies are useless, oh well... no wonder why the woolly bugger is the #1 favorite fly around here... lol
Great drawings again! keep them coming, it's a nice change of pace.
It's kinda ironic that I am currently behind on an order of steelhead sized spruce flies. :chuckle:
I love when i look at the drawing and i can notice an actual depth on the image. My mother used to paint flowers onwatercolor when she was younger and these days when she see me drawing in the living room she always say that she would have liked to learn how to do the shadowing. I guess i learned fromt he photography, i have no other possible explanation. I'm glad you also enjoy it :smokin:
Thank you I still feel that i have a very long road ahead of me, hopefully i will keep improving the drawings as i get more and better practice.
