I wasn't able to participate in the last swap as expected...but I'm back in the saddle again with intent to fullfill the job. Being away from the vise gave me a chance to do plenty of thinking. Hairwings aren't too prevalent out in the PNW so I composed one that should do the trick for Rocky on his home waters. I hope it does the trick. Six more to go...customized to the tiers territory.
Very glad to see that you are at the vise Dave !!! I for one , have missed your posts !!! I hope you are feeling better
As Rob already mentioned , many points of interest to your flies and this one is no exception !!! Wonderful fly !! Colour , material blend , design .... stunning :smokin:
Beautiful color choices!
The only time you see hairwings out here anymore are during the summer months on only a few rivers.
They are effective as ever but even during summer you see anglers fishing more "modern flies."
Thanks for the nice comments. Two more hairwings to go (with some modern affectations) and then I'll work on some larger versions of the classic wet fly designs
