For your perusal...its been a really long winter so far
Back in the fall I started tying/rigging my shanks with a small loop of braided mono in the rear.
To this mono loop I attach (loop to loop) an appropriate leanth (short or long depending on where I want hook to ride) of doubled up tippet that has been tied into a loop using a double surgeons knot. Doubled up tippet goes through eye of hook as would with any stinger.
Tippet from leader to fly is standard.
By using a substantially heavier tippet to fly than tippet to stinger hook , I have been avoiding losing my fly to snags....I just pull and rear hook gives way before tippet/leader connection
The only draw back is there is a very slight droop down of hook (only when hook is tied very long in rear) when not under tension or swing
