Johnny B,, i buy mine from Flymakers in the UK. Whats wrong with UK based? We wouldnt be here without UK influence now would we???
My money goes where good people are and i'am treated well,, no such thing as "buy here because" for me.
Salmon Chaser
Sometimes i surf on the UK (and other european fly shops) and i see really nice stuff (and some times at very nice prices) but all that magic goes puff when i check the shipping cost Most of the times it's 3-4 times more expensive than the shipping from USA.
Hey WT, those cheap shaving brushes you can find at all the drug stores are made from boar bristles. About $6 will net you a small handful if you're overwhelmed by impatience. :chuckle:
I know this isn't what's you're asking, but I've subbed stripped cock hackle quills for pig bristle. 4 or 5 of those do an outstanding job for a tail. Fooled quite a few people with 'em too.
also known as peccary fibers? http://www.eflytyer.com/order_info/oi_bmaterial.html
Peccary ( AKA Boar or Javelina ): The fibers on these are long and have a taper to them. The color ranges from cream to brown. Use these for tails, crawdads, prawns or wind as a rib. Makes nice dry flies if you flatten the fibers. ( Do this by running your fingers or a blunt object like a spool long them.)
Mike Hogue has some at www.eflytyer.com (not a site sponser, but a possible source)
