trying my hand at a married wing:

Got the original connections OK.....

but not so clear about it when everything put together...

I know I missed something out, but that was only at the stage of finishing the head!!!

This marriage game ... it has some problems to solve! :)

Mike:

Dwayne (Salmon Chaser) is correct. What is equally important is that you married them well, and from what I can see (with the JC in the way)...mounted them well. I'll be watching your next efforts with great interest...cuz you seem to have the proportions and other required skills well in hand. A fine looking fly and.... GREAT EXPECTATIONS !!!

Many thanks for the most helpful pointers - will try harder, and definitely check the wing orientation better!! :D

Mike,

I'd either make the white and red strips one fiber wider and marry them together, then the blue, followed by the turkey; or keep the white and red the same number of fibers but marry 3 sets of them thusly: white/red; white/red; white/red. Then marrry the blue and brown turkey to the top. I'd personally marry the wing the latter way. Doing either will give you a slightly wider wing which will better ballance the fly.

As it is, it is well-tied. The small change in the way the wing is married will make a huge improvement in its look.
