Hello friends,

First the first; been to the doctor this morning, he removed all the stitches (clamps to speak the truth), made some control x-ray and all is going perfectly fine. Possibly will start rehab in two weeks :D

Well, back to our stuff, todays drawing os for one of my top 10 favorites, maybe the third place on the list hehe, the royal coachman tied as per the original design, wet and on an up eye hook (i still couldn't tie one this way because i still couldn't het those barred duck geathers for the tail). Still, i added my personal "touch" which is a fine golden wire ribbing on the central section, i like the extra touch of glitter it gives to the fly.

Here it is, i hope you like it

Cheers

Sure thing! Here's his blog:

Here's some of his work recreating the Bergman collection:
http://hatchesmagazine.com/blogs/Hatches/category/ray-bergman-collection/

There's plenty more to the Bergman collection, but the links are somewhat sporadic. As you can see, there's 80 flies shown, and he's only at 'C'!

Here's some trout flies:

I once had an opportunity to attend a clinic by Don Bastian when I was living in Maine. I went fishing instead, and really, REALLY wish I went and learned some tricks from Don Bastian. What an incredible tier!

Oh boy oh boy!!!! Some awesome material there, thanks for the links :D

Now i can't wait to see the whole Bergman Collection, i will gave to invest some time saving all those wonderful patterns, classic wets are (for me) the nicest flies ever done and i love not only to watch them and tie them but also to fish them.

Up to now my best source for choosing these flies is Mary Orvis's book "Favorite ties and their history" but now i have another great source with these sites.

I'm so glad you like them! Don is a regular presence on flytyingforum [dotcom] once again, and we're all better tiers because of it.

I also think classic wet flies are some of the best flies ever!

I have to run out now, but I'll shoot you a message later today. I've got some other cool stuff to show you from the Don Bastian collection.

best regards,

Rob
