I tied up a bunch of his style of intruders in muted, but mottled colors.
Holy cow do the fish love them (or hate them, the hits are vicious).
I've hooked five fish in 4 mornings! Even ticked off some gear anglers.

Starrant: I'm fishing inland but for some reason we're getting lots of late fish that are barely starting to blush (even the bucks).

Zencastor: My computer won't let me upload pictures (go figure). Try this: Scud orange ostrich (very pale), burnt orange seal, dull orange grizzly hen for a shellback, and light peach rabbit for the head.
I've also been getting grabs on random olive concoctions, and white with yellow and badger saddle for a shellback. I also put a little silver pheasant in there.
Just experiment with muted tones. Variations of gray and others pale colors work. They seem to work better if they look like something you'd find swimming around in your river.
To get a good look at Scott's version check out the shagitmaster website.

i like Scott's intruder and his philosophy about fishing, but worm weights and casting jig looking flies is just pure ugliness... :Eyecrazy: have to watch skagit master 2 to see what I mean

Ever since watching Skagit Master 2 I've wanted to tie some intruders in muted colors. They look amazing. My husband got on the worm weight bandwagon after watching it. He loves it, thinks they work awesome. He's all about getting down to the fish and dredging the bottom of the river, he had the attitude before watching Skagit Master from all his years of center pinning. I haven't cast a worm weight yet, but I'm sure I'll start when I think I need to get down deeper than I am with the weighted flies I've tied. I'm going to stop tying so much with eyes and use the worm weights so I can have less flies and fish the varying depth easier.
