First tube fly

I am very aware, this is not one to brag about haha. But I have been wanting to try tubes for a bit and finally got around to it with some guidance from Ard.

Fun first try

Yeah baby! I very much like it. Good color selection and very neatly tied. Only suggestion I would make is lengthen the hair wing a bit, maybe some long goat. That being said, I would not hesitate casting that fly and being very confident it will catch fish. Nice!

Hey that’s a very solid first attempt, nice work!! I think it will definitely fish. Your tying is well proportioned with nice material flow.

If I could make a suggestion, I would try layering the wing in 3 sections to give it that full tapered look. I’m not familiar with fish hair but I found fox is a good winging material for these types of tubes. Give it a swing!

Thanks man. The only longer fiber hair I have here is some black bear. I should have used that, but wanted to play with this fish hair stuff. its just a nylon hair substitute. Not sure what its real purpose is supposed to be for. "Bucktail substitute" I may try spinning it.

Im messing with another tube now with some rabbit strips and I like it much better. We'll see how it goes. Thanks for the critiques tho.

One thing I am definitely going to like about these pro tubes is the ability to add weight to an already tied fly. just pull the junction tubing off, slide some tungsten collars on the base tube, then re-attach the junction tubing. and Boom! im ready to swing through that bucket.

Something fun and new to me!

Nice work, fishy colors. After tying on tubes, I never looked back. I lost two good fish back to back working a popper tied on a tube a few days ago. Instead of needing a popper with a bigger hook, I just upped the hook size and solved the problem.
