Snow day framing

Spending my snow day (yup, 4 inches of the white stuff here on 5/9) building a shadow box out of the "poster" the ASFI 2018 committee created to indicate my participation in that great event for their website. They chose a Sneaky and my Celtic Beauty as part of the poster, so I included the flies in the frame. Went with all white this tiime, and I think I'll dye (not stain) some red oak black for the frame. It was really great of that committee, who covered every single base an event like that has, to invite an old hairwing tyer to the event. Deeply appreciated, I can tell you that.

Funny...... I mowed 4 days ago and got up to complete cover yesterday. Got to love it.
And FYI you are far from any old hairwing tyer. Im not the only one looking forward to your posts. Always top notch, Wings and body. Hands down my favorite to tie and swing.

Thanks for your contributions

With the hollow cries of a loon echoing off the mountains, the mist rises from the water like a thousand ghostly spirits freed at last of their earthly torments. It is here that my life falls into focus.

Your shadow box cutting skills rival your fly tying skills. Both xlnt.

Yes we had unseasonably cold weather down in Virginia too, no snow but freeze warning. Coldest temps at this time of year in like 60 years. Great way to create a nice piece of art from an event you participated in, creates a lasting memory!

Those were good memories, Gary. And that framed poster is an excellent way to rekindle the good times!
