Wet flys, whether winged wets or flymphs or spiders, fascinate me. My single hand trout fishing is now almost exclusively wet flies. The spiders are amazingly productive. Once, I even caught a large carp on a #16 snipe and purple!.. A #14 partridge and orange once netted me a 20 inch rainbow in Cafe au lait water in Fremont canyon in Wyoming. It was the only fly working for me in those tough conditions. I still can't figure out how the fish detected that fly, fished with a slow figure of right hand retrieve through the muddy water.
