Farmer's guilty pleasure+ Others

Been pretty into the flies of jonthan farmer - he owns midnight sun custom flies, and does opst stuff. Here's some of my ties, The guilty pleasure, The graboid, the graboid JR, steel you face, and the un named craft fur fly..... All video's are available through opst's youtube page except ''steel your face'' also these flies are for sale through midnight sun custom flies. He also has far more complex and beautiful ties... If anyone wants the recipe for steel your in red and/or blue let me know.

Awesome work

Great looking takes on all of these patterns!!....as a dead head I love the names

personally I have never named my flies but I hear its a cool thing to do

which was the most complicated?

IM in love with the last one ..that's the "unamed craft fur"?

is that your name or Jonathans?..the UCFF..sounds like a league of some sorts

Thanks so much it means a lot! All of the names are jon's, I also have trouble naming things too. I think it's like a nickname probably best thought up by a friend. Rather then declaring it yourself nobody likes the nickname you think up yourself... I noticed many of jons other patterns don't have names yet so maybe he feels the same.
I will now call it the UCFF lol

The most complicated might be the guilty pleasure in the top photo (lead eyes+fireline a loop of 6 dubbings+2 predator wrap colours+polar flash.. then orange amherst, white barred ostrich+pink ostrich top wing +grizzly saddles+a bead as a hot spot)
I think the name is pun on all the materials used lol . Just getting all the specific materials hurts the wallet but when you see in it in a swim tank its worth it.

I think your talking about red fly? Yeah Its probably the best tie as the proportions are just right. I don't tie many classics so ive never truly respected how much better flies look when you dial them in.

The UCFF is the messy looking thing next to the farlex
Check out the start of these video's and you'll see the craft fur fly and guilty pleasure in the swim tanks. Definitely worth a look for those who love those swimmy demon flies

the U.C.F.F

Beautiful flies!

I’ve been working on a set of beast of burdens for my spring fishing.

I’ve been looking for the recipe for steel your face so I could tie up a few for my box - do you happen to have it?

Thank you so much. The burden is a great fly. I need more Jungle cock to make a bunch.

Yeah here's the recipe.. there is some changes between the red and blue but ill mention them , 40 mm shank, wire, One ball of red(blue is chartreuse) classic chenille, tie in wire leave it, tie in red/blue grizzly saddle leave it, tie in tinsel and palmer/wrap up , now palmer up the saddle its around 4 times , then wire crossing over once each saddle wrap ... this is just like the fish taco or hobo spey with wire. Im sure you know its possible to skip tying in the saddle until the end of the tinsel, then tie in wrap backwards and secure with wire wrapping forwards.

Up front its a pretty small ball of chenille, with a small thin wing of finn raccoon or fox ,then very few like 2-3 max of red marabou depending on how sparse. the amount marabou here is very little even 3 wraps might be 2 much , 1 wrap of black marabou-the blue one doesn't have this color change just more blue,6 strands of krinkle mirror flash, 2 grizzly saddles-- for blue use white grizzly , black schlappen if the red variation- blue silver pheasant if blue , natural jungle cock eyes..

Hope this helps
