First orange heron

I got my hands on half a whiting Spey cape in grey and figured it would be appropriate to start with an orange heron. I’ve been trying to learn a lot about tying Spey flies this winter and although far from perfect this fly is sort of an accomplishment and cool moment. Looking forward to fishing it 🙂 thank you spey pagers for your guidance and inspiration this tying season!

Me too, right after pinching the barb
Just razzin', I pinch my barbs before tying because sometimes the barbs seem to find their way into my thumb or forefinger when I'm holding the hook as I tie.

Your fly is very nice and very fishable ... great work

Have you Swung a Spey Fly today ??

Nice job! Fish that baby!!

You make known to me the path of life;
in your presence there is fullness of joy;
at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

don't forget to switch up your wrap directions with materials.
when everything is wrapped in the same direction you can get some corkscrew spinners...
