Here is the last of the Glasso fly set I have been working on. The Gold Heron might be my favourite of Syd Glasso's patterns.
I had to wait to tie this fly, as I was out of decent flat gold tinsel, so I was pleased when some Lagartun arrived in the mail a few days ago. The wing and collar are Merganser, which is so much fun to work with. I chose 4 feathers from a bird I was given by hunting friend last fall, and finally managed to tent them properly. It feels good to be done!
Cheers.... and lets hope this brutal cold snap ends soon!
Have a great weekend everyone...
Every so often someone ties a very special fly and posts a picture and I enter it into my "flies by others" folder. That fly is definitely one for the books! Perfection to my eye! Beautiful and thank you for positing.
