The Purple Skier (variant)

The Purple Skier

A variation of the The Skier in steelhead colors. Thanks Mike (GR8LAKESFLYER) for the inspiration....

Dude, pinch that barb and take it for a swing !!
Hold on tight, that is a killer
I like the purple variation a lot !! I was thinking of tying one in purple, but never gave it a shot. I did a "blacked out" version (all black) with natural GP tippets and it looked awesome, but not a pull from it. This one though has winter steelhead written all over it

A quibbling observation: 09's sleek ski jumper looks (after passage in and out of the cloud to my computer screen) blue, not purple.

That's not a complaint. Blue and purple are kissing cousins on the color palate; both, in their many gradations, are proven steel-seducers.

Well tied! Killed it with the wing-set too.

It's Purple Mac. Perhaps it was the poor / UV lighting or the crummy iphone camera. But's she's purple. The heron is claret......but that's a shade of purple.

The purple is perfect for my home river .... if the hackle is claret, this fly will be a KILLER
There is something about a purple/claret combination that gets results.
I have found when my typical colour combinations aren't working, this purple/claret seems to get some attention.
Vic put me on to this combination, so I cannot take any credit.

I'll stop there before I throw this thread off track

This fly is a stunner my friend
