OH MY !!! :whoa::whoa:
The red and black really stands out to me ... but I love purple flies ... I'm always a fan of a Carron fly ... and an Akroyd with cinnamon wings is hard to beat !!
How do you decide on the river ...
So beautiful! Can I ask what feathers you’re using for the purple grizz and black feather wings? Seems like the necks I’ve found have so little web that there’s no body to the tips. Your flies are very inspiring!
I used strung saddle on the black wing and the purple is from a mid 90's Keough neck.
I buy every 90's or later grizzly neck I can afford from Metz, Keough, Hoffman, Darby/Miner, Ewing and Spenser. I like clean, well defined even barring and rounded tips.
I'm not a fan of Whiting's "American" necks for a few reasons, the "grizzly" is a variant and most have a pointed tip similar to Chinese capes. The quality is great, it's just not the look I'm after.
Thanks for checking out the flies. Take care.
Shannon
Edit: also, old Hareline Capon necks are fantastic too when you can find them.
